Inspired by our love of French Marseille soap, these soap flakes are a natural washing product for washing linen and clothes made from natural soap.
The soap flakes are made in a traditional soap factory with natural plant oils (no Palm oil) and minimal ingredients, the product and effluent is biodegradable and environmentally friendly. This big bag of soap flakes makes large quantities of washing solution, it’s long lasting and economical.
Made in Yorkshire exclusively for Frenchsoaps with Yorkshire grown Rapeseed Oil.
Packaged in a reusable and compostable jute sack (makes a great peg bag!) with no plastic. Please note that the sack and internal paper bag are not damp/waterproof so please store in dry conditions or decant into a suitable container with lid. Also available in a compostable brown bag - perfect for refilling your soap sack.

How To use:
First of all make a laundry liquid:
Mix 20g flakes with 0.5 litre of hot water, stir to dissolve. Allow to cool and decant into a tub with a lid. You can use this mix straight away. Please note the liquid will set to a jelly like consistency overnight. This mix gives you: 10 hand washes or 7- 10 machine washes.
For handwash - dilute the ready made mix in a bowl of warm water. Use 3 tablespoons (or a scoop) to 5 litres of warm water
For machine washing: use 3 - 5 tbs (or 1 - 2 scoops) depending on laundry in the drawer dispenser/washing ball.
A 500g bag of Yorkshire Soap Flakes gives you 162 - 250 washes in total.
For hard water areas you can add between 50-100mls of white vinegar (distilled) in the fabric conditioner compartment every now and then depending on how much washing you do, but start with every 2 months. You can do this in conjunction with a wash or you can run the machine empty and add.
For brightening your whites, add 1 tbsp of Bicarb of Soda to your wash (or a small scoop of soda crystals)
For a scented wash, add a few drops of essential oils to your washing liquid mix, whatever scent you like - good ones to add for washing are lavender, citrus or tea-tree. Lots of our customers use a small amount of our Marseille Laundry Liquid Lavender or Citrus Fruits which adds a delightful fragrance.
We have been informed that crafters involved in wool craft - felting, looms, weaving etc use a natural soap flake wash to treat the wool and release the natural oils to make the wool soft and fluffy. If you do this please contact us we would love to write about it in these top tips!
Sodium Rapeseedate, (Rape seed oil grown in Yorkshire), Sodium Cocoate (Coconut oil) Aqua, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride (salt), Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate (preservatives).

I love these soap flakes! Good value... they do 100s of washes. no plastic, no nasty substances that harm the environment. Gentle on your clothes and skin.... and I love the smell when you are making the flakes into liquid - like a real Victorian kitchen.

Beautiful soap flakes, slightly finer grade than the french ones, but work exactly the same. Utterly LOVE this stuff. Easy to make up the liquid, perfect for sensitive skin, plus the advantage it is totally biodegradable. Perfect for machine washing wool, silk, and any delicate fabric. Towels come up soft and snugly, wool also keeps its softness. I cannot recommend this highly enough! WONDERFUL!
